Job summary

HDR, Inc. is hiring a Transportation Construction Inspector B in Virginia. You will conduct observations of civil infrastructure construction, read plans, manage materials documentation and help ensure contract compliance.

You will collaborate with engineers, project managers and other inspectors in all weather conditions. The role requires a high school diploma and at least 3 years in related work; proficiency with MS Office and project management tools is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years experience in field inspection or similar role.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document observations of construction for civil infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with Inspectors, Construction Managers, Engineers and Project Managers.
• Read and interpret construction plans, shop drawings, specs and contracts; identify discrepancies.
• Track and maintain project materials documentation.
• Perform routine material testing on concrete, soils and other materials as necessary.
• Provide guidance to less-experienced field staff as needed.
