Job summary

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Building Science Testing Technician in Hillside, IL to perform field testing, observations, and inspection of construction materials across projects in commercial, residential, and healthcare sectors.

You'll travel up to 25% with core hours Monday–Friday, and earn $28-$35 per hour, plus benefits including PTO, holidays, medical, 401(k), and more. The role emphasizes documentation, reporting, and client communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• General construction, carpentry, or construction testing experience.
• Experience using power tools.
• Technical understanding to interpret test procedures and report results.
• Safety-first mindset and adherence to safety practices.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and perform climbing/bending tasks.
• Ability to travel up to 25% overnight.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing, observations and inspection of construction materials.
• Operate testing equipment and conduct tests (air and water infiltration).
• Provide data assessments through reports.
• Work with drawings, specifications and diagrams.
• Observe site activities and perform assigned tasks.
• Make observations and recommendations for improvements.
• Maintain detailed documentation and test results data.
• Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
