Job summary

Intertek Global in York, PA is seeking a Field Testing Technician Level II to lead field testing projects and manage your own assignments.

You’ll travel weekly, work on site with customers, set up test chambers, operate equipment, and document findings for client reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in commercial construction, building envelope or fenestration.
• Ability to learn the building envelope systems and installation methods.
• Working knowledge of test methods and standards for these systems, or ability to learn.
• Aptitude for leading a crew and working independently.
• Strong communication skills with customers and co-workers.
• Good planning and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office & Outlook.
• Ability to work from ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to travel 75% of the time or more.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead field testing projects, data collection and report writing.
• Set up for testing including rough carpentry work to construct test chambers.
• Run equipment on the interior of the buildings and work with customers while testing occurs.
• Operate high reach lift equipment (boom lifts, scaffolding).
• Assist with forensic investigations of building envelope failures (exterior isolation).
• Communicate with clients and project team regarding site observations and test preparation on all projects assigned.
• Provide project planning on site for needed elements such as water, electricity and access by communicating with clients and project team.
• Travel with overnight stays (company covers travel expenses plus per diem).
• Ability to perform physical work relevant to areas of responsibility.
