Job summary

Austin Sensing Company is seeking a Field Test and Validation Engineer to design and run tests for radar, acoustic, and RF sensing systems. You will plan controlled experiments, collect trustworthy data at our test site and at customer locations, and translate results into engineering recommendations.

This role requires turning product requirements into measurable tests, strong data analysis in Python/MATLAB, and clear technical writing.

Qualifications

• Turn product requirements into measurable tests and acceptance criteria.
• Design controlled experiments and account for measurement uncertainty.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or comparable data analysis tools.
• Hands-on troubleshooting across hardware, software, networking, and power systems.
• Experience collecting and analyzing synchronized data from multiple devices.

Responsibilities

• Develop test plans and acceptance criteria for radar, acoustic, and RF sensing systems.
• Run field tests measuring detection range, tracking accuracy, latency, and false alarm rates.
• Establish ground truth with independent positioning measurements and synchronized logs.
• Coordinate test sites, equipment, and personnel to ensure safe, repeatable tests.
• Set up sensors, networking, power, data recording, and instrumentation in lab and field.
• Analyze test data, investigate unexpected results, and distinguish product issues from test setup errors.
• Collaborate with RF, signal processing, embedded systems, and software engineers to reproduce failures and verify fixes.
• Build scripts and tools for data collection, analysis, and repeatable reporting.
• Maintain test records with hardware/software versions and configurations.
