Job summary

Austin Sensing Company is seeking a Radar Signal Processing Engineer to develop algorithms for radar measurements, detections, and tracks, from design to field testing.

You will collaborate with RF, firmware, and software teams to optimize real-time performance, assess waveform options, and implement efficient processing on embedded or GPU platforms. Strong communication is essential to explain theory and results across disciplines.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience developing radar signal processing algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement algorithms for range, Doppler, and angle estimation, detection, and tracking.
• Evaluate waveforms and processing approaches against requirements.
• Build simulations to evaluate performance across target characteristics, clutter, interference, and noise.
• Develop beamforming, calibration, clutter suppression, and adaptive detection methods.
• Analyze recorded radar data to identify missed detections, false alarms, estimation errors, and tracking failures.
• Implement and optimize algorithms for real-time operation with firmware/software teams.
• Design bench and field tests that measure detection probability and tracking continuity.
• Work with RF engineers to understand hardware effects on processing.
• Build repeatable data analysis tools for regression testing.
• Document algorithm assumptions and tradeoffs for team decisions.
