Job summary

Austin Sensing Company is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to develop firmware for our sensing hardware. You will own board bring-up, peripheral control, and data handling across radar, acoustic, and RF products in Austin, TX.

Work with electrical, RF, FPGA, and software engineers to move systems from bench to deployment, implementing robust firmware, diagnostics, and reliable field updates. You will write clean, maintainable code in C/C++, develop tests, and participate in design reviews to

Qualifications

• Experience developing embedded firmware for deployed hardware products.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and familiarity with Python for testing/automation.
• Strong understanding of microcontrollers, processors, interrupts, memory and peripherals.
• Experience with bare-metal development, RTOS, or embedded Linux.
• Hands-on board bring-up and debugging with JTAG/SWD, scopes, and logic analyzers.
• Experience diagnosing problems across firmware, hardware, and communications.
• Familiarity with version control and automated builds.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded firmware for microcontrollers and processors across sensing products.
• Bring up new boards, configure peripherals, and develop drivers with electrical engineers.
• Implement sensor control, data acquisition, and communications between hardware and software.
• Build interfaces using SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and Ethernet.
• Develop startup, configuration, fault handling, and recovery behavior.
