Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Field Engineer to lead field execution, testing, and commissioning at the NLR test facility in Arvada, Colorado. This role focuses on evaluating emerging energy technologies, supporting first-of-kind deployments, and accelerating transfer from concept to commercial application.

The role combines hands-on engineering, project leadership, vendor collaboration, and documentation to enable rapid, safe deployments. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in testing, commissioning, operations, field engineering, or related roles.
• Hands-on experience setting up, executing, and documenting engineering tests.
• Experience commissioning electrical or electromechanical equipment in field environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause-analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coordinate with suppliers, contractors, engineers, and technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead field execution of technology validation programs at the NLR test facility.
• Design, build, and implement test setups for emerging energy technologies.
• Convert test objectives into safe, executable field test plans.
• Prepare equipment, instrumentation, data acquisition systems for testing.
• Execute tests and demonstrations with adherence to safety procedures.
• Collect, analyze, and report test data and findings.
