AES is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Field Engineer to lead field execution, testing, and commissioning activities at the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR), AES's advanced technology validation and demonstration facility. This individual will play a critical role in evaluating emerging energy technologies, supporting first-of-kind deployments, and accelerating the transfer of innovative solutions from concept to commercial application, working alongside subject matter expertise in emerging technologies and advanced grid integration solutions on technology validation.
The Senior Field Engineer will implement and operate field test programs, commission new technologies, troubleshoot complex systems, maintain testbed infrastructure, and document lessons learned for broader deployment across AES. The role combines hands‑on technical execution, project leadership, vendor collaboration, and innovation-driven problem solving.
This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working with cutting‑edge technologies, solving difficult technical problems, and operating in a dynamic environment where requirements evolve as new opportunities emerge.

Success in this role means enabling AES to quickly and safely evaluate promising technologies, execute first‑of‑kind demonstrations, solve difficult technical challenges, and transform field experience into deployable solutions across the AES portfolio. The Senior Field Engineer serves as both a hands‑on technical leader and a key contributor to the AES innovation ecosystem.
