Job summary

Motive is seeking an Installation Specialist to install telematics devices in customer vehicles, ensure high-quality workmanship, and manage strategic deployments. You will train customers on-site, coordinate trials, and oversee quality and documentation to drive operational improvements.

The role requires extensive hands-on installation experience, automotive electrical knowledge, and the ability to travel 50–75% of the year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Extensive experience in technical equipment installation and repair, particularly in automotive or related industries.
• Knowledge of vehicle wiring and electrical systems; ability to interpret wiring diagrams.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform physical tasks incl. lifting, climbing ladders, confined spaces.
• Experience installing IoT devices and aftermarket electronics at scale, preferably automotive.
• Strong technical background with ability to manage complex installations and troubleshoot diverse equipment.
• Excellent communication skills for training customers and coordinating with teams.
• Willingness to travel 50–75% of the time.
• Spanish language proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install Motive's product suite (gateways, AI cameras, accessories) across vehicles and assets.
• Provide on-site training and oversee trials/pilots; manage RMAs and deployments.
• Perform on-site quality checks and audit installation documentation.
• Collaborate with Field Engineering to inform product enhancements.
• Create custom installation guides for specialty configurations.
• Provide remote assistance to third-party installers.
• Lead escalation reviews to resolve technical issues.
