Job summary

Davey Resource Group, Inc. is seeking a Telecommunications Lineworker 1 to install, maintain, and transfer overhead telecommunications infrastructure on utility poles. You will work closely with a senior lineworker, travel across the Northeast Ohio region, Indiana, and Western Pennsylvania, and support network expansion and maintenance.

Expect 100% travel for on-site training and projects. The role requires climbing heights, operating various tools, reading blueprints, and using GIS-enabled

Qualifications

• One year of fiber construction experience or completion of a telecommunications lineworker training program.
• Basic knowledge of the telecommunications industry and fiber optics.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver's license with a clean MVR; must pass the Davey Driver’s Safety Course.
• Must be comfortable climbing utility poles and working at heights of 20+ feet.
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical card by completing a DOT physical examination and passing a drug test.
• Ability to use electronic devices and GIS software (iPads, cameras).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
• Willingness to obtain professional certificates and licenses as required.
• Preferred: High school diploma or GED
• Preferred: CDL Class A license
• Preferred: Electric hazard identification capability
• Preferred: OSHA 1910.268 training

Responsibilities

• Work with a senior lineworker to understand technical and operational telecommunications line work.
• Install, maintain, and transfer overhead telecommunications infrastructure on poles and spans.
• Inspect utility poles using pole prod and sound test methods.
• Test utility poles for foreign voltage.
• Operate various tools and equipment safely (bucket trucks, hand tools, power tools, ladders, meters).
• Climb poles safely using climbing gear as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work orders to guide installations and repairs.
• Complete weekly as-built blueprints and document field data with devices.
• Travel 100% for on-site job duty training, projects, or meetings.
