Job summary

Southeastern Surveying and Mapping Corp. is seeking a Utility Field Technician to join our field team in Salisbury, NC. You will identify utility pathways, cables, and other conduits and use multiple techniques to locate projected utilities while maintaining accurate data records.

Responsibilities include assisting the SUE Crew Chief, loading equipment, safely excavating, and communicating findings to the office. Some travel to remote locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
• At least 1 year field experience with SUE preferred.
• Knowledge of municipal construction and utility infrastructure.
• Ability to read maps and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Assist crew chief in underground utility location and excavation tasks.
• Load, unload and maintain SUE equipment daily.
• Safely excavate to expose subsurface utilities using hand tools and vacuum excavation.
• Record and deliver field data and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate survey work with SSMC and help map data.
• Attend scheduled meetings and comply with safety requirements.
