Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a SUE Technician based in our Charlotte, NC office to support subsurface utility engineering projects. The role involves fieldwork, utility designation, and exposure to a variety of surveying technologies in a dynamic team environment.

Ideal candidates have 0–2 years in EM/geophysical tools, strong reading skills, and willingness to travel and work outdoors in all weather. A safety‑minded approach and ability to lift up to 80 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years experience with EM and geophysical designation technologies.
• Able to quickly grasp new technologies.
• Strong reading comprehension and communication skills.
• Enjoy outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Occasional travel and overtime may be required.
• Able to walk several miles daily.
• Able to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Safety of yourself and others is a priority.
• English reading/writing for job communications.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team to tackle projects.
• Read and interpret utility records, as‑builts and survey drawings.
• Designate existing utilities using EM and geophysical tech.
• Operate a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes.
• Utilize appropriate maintenance of traffic.
