Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Field Technician to join our field services team supporting landfill gas wellfields. You will monitor wells, perform pump pulling, and assist with environmental sampling, gaining hands-on training in the environmental industry.

The position requires frequent travel (60–80%) across several states, safety-first work around hazardous materials, and operating a company truck after training. This contract-based role is onsite in Kansas City, MO.

Qualifications

• Experience working in outdoor or field-based industries.
• Strong mechanical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems.
• Willingness to travel 60-80% across several states.
• Comfort using gas analyzers and other field instrumentation (training provided).
• Safe handling around hazardous materials and landfill environments.
• Ability to accurately collect data and use software to interpret results.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day operations and maintenance activities on landfill gas wellfields.
• Monitor landfill gas wells using gas analyzers and adjust wellfield settings to optimize performance.
• Carry out pump pulling, inspection, and maintenance to ensure reliable operation.
• Conduct surface emissions monitoring to support environmental compliance and performance tracking.
• Assist with environmental field work, including sampling and testing.
• Use data collection software to record, interpret, and report field measurements.
• Identify mechanical issues in field equipment and apply troubleshooting techniques.
• Follow procedures and safety protocols around hazardous materials and landfill environments.
• Travel regularly to landfill sites across multiple states to support operations.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, maintaining safe work practices.
• Participate in training to build technical knowledge and environmental field expertise.
• Maintain assigned company truck and equipment in clean, safe condition.
