Job summary

Sunstate Equipment Co. is hiring a Field Mechanic III in Corpus Christi, TX. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing diesel and heavy equipment in the field, with independent work in a customer-facing capacity.

You will manage your own workload and operate with high safety and quality standards. The position offers weekly pay, a schedule from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and overtime eligibility. Competitive pay is experience-dependent with quarterly branch bonus opportunities and comprehensive

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of field experience as a diesel, heavy equipment, or construction equipment technician.
• 4+ years of field experience preferred.
• Ability to self diagnose, troubleshoot, prioritize, and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, Tier 4, and aftertreatment systems.
• Experience servicing and repairing construction and heavy equipment, including earthmoving equipment, generators, rollers, and related rental equipment.
• Electrical, HVAC, and generator experience is a plus.
• Must provide your own professional tools, averaging $10,000+ in value.
• Basic computer skills for work orders and documentation.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
• Participate in an every other week on-call rotation with incentive pay.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair equipment safely and to manufacturer specs.
• Self-manage workload and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics and aftertreatment components.
• Service and repair construction and heavy equipment and related rental gear.
• Communicate with customers and branch teams to ensure quality service.

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 2 years of field experience as a diesel, heavy equipment, or construction equipment technician required. 4+ years of field experience preferred.

Experience working independently in the field, with the ability to self diagnose, troubleshoot, prioritize, and complete repairs with minimal supervision.

Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, Tier 4, and aftertreatment systems.

Experience servicing and repairing construction and heavy equipment, including earthmoving equipment, generators, rollers, and related rental equipment.

Electrical, HVAC, and generator experience is a plus.

Must be self motivated, self sufficient, dependable, and comfortable managing your own workload while providing excellent service to customers.

Ability to inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair equipment safely and according to manufacturer specifications.

Must provide your own professional tools, averaging $10,000+ in value.

Basic computer skills required for completing work orders, documenting repairs, ordering parts, and maintaining accurate service records.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work professionally with customers, branch teams, and other technicians.

Participate in an every other week on call rotation, Sunday through Sunday. Additional on call incentive pay is provided for eligible on call assignments.
