Job summary

Ubiquity is hiring a Field Technician I in Omaha, NE to install, turn up and maintain residential and small business connectivity services, including internet, VoIP, and IPTV. You will work under the Technician Manager and collaborate with team members to complete 4+ installs or trouble tickets daily.

You will diagnose technical issues, perform fiber fusion splicing, record light levels and OTDR readings, and ensure safety and quality at each site while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required; related experience acceptable in lieu of education.
• Minimum 1 year in a technical support or related field.
• Ability to operate a company vehicle with a valid driver’s license.
• Familiarity with routing, switching, and fiber optic transmission/equipment basics.
• Proficient with basic troubleshooting tools and field installation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with network maintenance and equipment turn up, including generator setup.
• Complete 4+ installations or trouble tickets per day.
• Communicate effectively with customers and maintain safety standards.
• Provision, install, and troubleshoot internet, VoIP, and IPTV services.
• Perform fusion splicing of fiber drop cables and manage splice closures.
• Record readings (light levels, OTDR, internet speed) and maintain quality metrics.
• Travel to customer sites as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
