Job summary

Ubiquity seeks a Field Technician I based in Omaha, NE to install and maintain digital services, splice fiber, and support repairs. You will diagnose issues at customer sites and coordinate with a Technician Manager in a fast-changing industry, contributing to underserved communities.

The role emphasizes safety, effective communication with customers, and achieving high service quality while supporting expansion of our digital infrastructure.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technical support role or related field.
• Valid driver’s license to operate company vehicle.
• Familiarize with routing, switching, and fiber optic transmission/equipment basics.
• Learn basics of fusion splicing and managing splice closures.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with network maintenance and equipment turn up, including generators at huts.
• Complete 4+ installations or trouble tickets per day.
• Communicate effectively with customers.
• Maintain safety and proper wall drops; ensure attic and drilling safety.
• Provision, install and troubleshoot internet, VoIP, IPTV services.
• Record light levels, OTDR readings, and internet speeds.
• Maintain <10% error rate within 7 days; maintain >4.0 star rating.
