Job summary

Maine Department of Transportation in Scarborough, ME, is seeking a position to document highway assets for location, condition, and layout, and to support contract specifications and plans development. The role includes inspecting projects and documenting pay estimates while aiding with culvert designs.

The successful candidate will assist in generating drainage basin characteristics using USGS Stream Stats and related software, applying engineering knowledge to data analysis and reporting

Qualifications

• Education, training, and/or experience in engineering, a technical field, or another related area demonstrating competency in reviewing technical plans, drafting diagrams and reports, collecting data, and analyzing datasets for trends.

Responsibilities

• Document highway assets for location, condition, and layout for entry into database(s).
• Assist Region with development of contract specifications and plans.
• Perform routine construction inspection to ensure projects are constructed according to plans and specifications while documenting contractor pay estimates.
• Assist with drafting simple culvert designs.
• Assist Region Engineer in generating drainage basin characteristics using tools such as USGS Stream Stats and computer software.
