Maine Department of Transportation is seeking a senior leader to direct the Asset Management Office in Augusta, overseeing staff and guiding strategies for highway and bridge infrastructure investments.
The role focuses on asset management, performance measures, and data governance, with reportable authority to report to the Chief Engineer and collaborate on state transportation policy decisions.

This position directs and manages the operations of the Asset Management Office and serves a key role in identifying the best management strategies to maintain and improve Maine’s highway and bridge infrastructure given available resources. This position reports to the Chief Engineer in MaineDOT’s executive office and oversees the Highway and Bridge Asset Management groups to ensure successful operations, quality control, and consistent and timely delivery of office outputs, staff supervision (5 currently). This position serves on the Commissioner’s Work Plan Development Group and has a significant role in Work Plan Management process. This position is primarily responsible for transportation asset management, federal transportation performance measures and reporting, and determining the needs, investment levels, performance, and reporting on the state of our transportation network. In addition, this position works with their teams to develop and evaluate investment strategies and program portfolios; administers resource allocations; communicate technical/performance information; and provide executive-level policy and legislative recommendations. This job requires system level thinking and analytical proficiency in transportation asset management principles, lifecycle planning, deterioration modeling, and investment needs; asset investment, and program optimization methodologies; federal transportation performance measures; and data governance, information systems, and infrastructure data management.
Registration as a Professional Engineer and Four (4) years of work experience in civil engineering at the professional level (beyond such licensure), two (2) years of which must be performing complex engineering functions related to the planning, project development, and/or maintenance of public works structures and facilities.
