Base pay range

$19.00/hr - $25.00/hr

TRAVELLING FIELD TECHNICIAN OPPORTUNITY (FIBER OPTICS DEPLOYMENT)

Required Skills:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience
• Be capable of performing the following tasks:
• Addition or removal of common systems equipment hardware.
• Addition or removal of wiring and connections (on non-working equipment only).
• Lead verification/continuity testing.
• Analysis of job specifications and drawings.
• Understand the Scope of Work (SOW) and write comprehensive Job Change Order (JCO) summaries.
• Provide work assignments to Skill Level 1 and 2 Installers.
• Prepare a Method of Procedure (MOP).
• Resolve job specification and/or drawing problems.
• Mark/correct office record drawings.
• In-process and final quality inspections.

Per Diem Info

• Per diem option 1 is $178 per day (meals and overnight stay)
• Per diem option 2 is $60 per day (meals and no overnight stay - travel home)

Must-Haves

• Reliable car or truck and a valid driver's license
• Ability to pass background check which includes: driving record, criminal history, credit check, and drug test
• You will be able to expense all travel, but you may need to pay for it up front and then be reimbursed
• Lodging and Food – you are responsible for and have the Per Diem options
• Vehicle Rentals and Flights – can be booked through our travel agency.

Job Description

A client of Insight Global is seeking level 2 fiber optic field technicians to join their team. Looking for field technicians that are open to weekly travel (by plane and car) to visit different client sites.

Day to Day & Responsibilities

• Must have the ability to pass criminal and drug tests to gain access badging from the telco customer.
• Must have the ability to interface politely with the customer using proper work ethics and etiquette while working under pressure.
• Must have the ability and aptitude to meet customer start and stop working hours.
• Must have the ability to climb ladders and work in tight spaces.
• Must have their own telecom insulated hand tools (e.g., screwdriver, wrench, etc.)
• Understanding of proper cabling installation and protection techniques.
• Understanding of using industry standards for securing cables by use of waxed 9-cord, and Velcro.
• Understanding of proper fiber types, ends, jumper/JPOI handling and protection.
• Understanding of proper fiber cleaning and scoping techniques.
• Knowledge and understanding of DWDM, OME long haul, short haul.
• Knowledge and understanding of Transport protocols Ethernet and OTN.
• Knowledge and understanding of mounting equipment in customer central offices, colocation areas, huts, and outdoor enclosures.
• Ability to make and test Cat-5/6 cables straight and crossover.
• Ability to see Understand the telecom color codes, and wire wrap paired cable.

Compensation

$19.00/hr to $25.00/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
