Base pay range
$35.00/hr - $39.00/hr
Length of assignment: 6 months, potential for extension
Primary job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Working in and around fiber and radio huts, generation plants, substations, data centers, crew quarters and right of ways.
- Creating plans for splicing and testing OPGW and ADSS fiber optic cables.
- Performing support duties in fiber cable maintenance, relocation and emergency restoration.
- Building relationships with all business units within the client.
- Documenting fibre strand usage and updating cable records in Circuit Vision.
- Reviewing and analysing optical system route redundancy.
- Participating in maintenance window cutovers and system grooms.
- Working with the Transport Team to turn up telecommunication services.
- Working closely with all fiber splicers and providing updates on progress.
- All other duties as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience:
- 3-5 years of telecommunications network experience desired.
- Excellent understanding of network planning or analysis.
- Directly related experience in the engineering, installation and splicing of fiber optic cable.
- Proficient in all aspects of advance optical testing and interpretation of the results.
- Computer knowledge in all engineering programs (such as: GIS, AutoCAD, SAP, Circuit Vision, etc.).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong safety awareness.
- Well organized and high level of attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.
- Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to process information quickly and function under high stress situations.
- Ability to develop rapport with client's employees, client's external customers, and client's contractors.
- Equally effective working independently or in a team environment.
- Experienced using word processing, Visio, spreadsheets, and GIS interfaces.
- Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, or NEC Standards.
- Attention to detail, trustworthy and self-motivated when working alone.
- Ability to read and understand schematics and field drawings.
- Willingness to work in remote locations.
- Pass multi-level background searches (nuclear).
- Able to work with spreadsheets (Excel) and GIS software.
