Job summary

Sandis is seeking a Field Technician to inspect and report stormwater compliance on site for construction projects in Campbell, CA. You will coordinate with owners, contractors and permitting authorities, performing field activities and documenting findings.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related fields, plus knowledge of stormwater regulations and reporting. Sandis offers competitive salaries and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• QSP Certification and 10 Hour OSHA Training preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong problem-solving ability.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google products, Bluebeam and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and understand environmental regulations.
• Must have a clean California driver’s license and driving record.
• Willingness to perform occasional field work and lift requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and office activities involving storm water monitoring, testing and report writing.
• Field inspections of erosion and sediment controls on construction sites.
• Meet with contractors and clients to discuss findings of field activities.
• Prepare erosion/sediment control plans and coordinate with project teams on prevention methods.
• Report writing and uploading information to state and client databases.

Cool Stuff you get to do:

• Perform field and office activities involving storm water monitoring, testing and report writing.
• Field activities will include (but are not limited to)
  • Construction site inspections of erosion and sediment controls
  • Stormwater and non-stormwater sampling and testing
  • Meet with contractors and clients to discuss findings of field activities
  • Site specific solutions for projects
  • Occasional field installation and/or maintenance of erosion and sediment controls
• Office activities to include
  • Project tracking and organization of field data
  • Project permitting
  • Preparation or modification of erosion/sediment control plans,

• Report writing and uploading information to state and client databases.

What will help you be successful:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, other relevant chemistry/biology/hydrology studies, or an equivalent combination of military training and/or field experience and training.
• QSP Certification and 10 Hour OSHA Training preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong problem-solving skills a must
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Google products (Gmail, Maps, Drive, Earth Pro), Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Basic laboratory handling and sampling skills along with calibration and troubleshooting of various meters and testing equipment.
• Strong ability to deal with complex systems
• Must be able to read and interpret plans
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and Excellent safety record and safety awareness
• All applicants must possess a clean driving record and current California driver’s license and applicable insurance
• Must be able to perform occasional field work using power tools and hand tools.
• SWPPP installation and maintenance requires the ability to:
  • Lift 40 lbs. multiple times within a few hours
  • Use a sledgehammer to drive wooden stakes into soil.
  • Lift 80 lb. drain grates with the assistance of another person
  • Sweeping and shoveling as needed
  • Be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Travel throughout the Bay Area.
