Job summary

Sandis is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Oakland, CA team. The role focuses on land development project design, mentoring Design Engineers, and leading engineering efforts across California.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree with 4+ years of project design experience, professional licensure or EIT, and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology tools. The position offers growth, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and involvement in major Bay Area projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer license or EIT and actively working toward PE.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology/storm drainage tools.
  • Ability to apply standard engineering techniques and create construction documents.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to solve engineering challenges and create construction documents.
  • Understand project design and development for rough/finish grading, stormwater treatment, and utility systems from planning through construction.
  • Prepare specifications, research investigations, and reports.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of technical work on major projects or across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate with the design team, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Track and monitor approvals from agencies and contract approvals; manage Additional Service Requests.
  • Adjust site plans to meet requirements and provide recommendations for more effective layouts.
  • Review the entire project, including design by others, before QA/QC review.
  • Mentor, delegate, and lead Design Engineers.

What will help you be successful:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 4+ years' experience in project design (Land Development Design)
  • Professional Engineers license, or EIT, and actively working towards obtaining PE
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydrology modeling programs, and storm drainage programs.
  • Excellent understanding of rough and finish grading, utility plans and stormwater management.
  • Ability to problem-solve grading aspects and balance earthwork when needed
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced and professional environment.
