Job summary

Infravision in Austin, TX is seeking an Operations Engineer to bridge engineering, R&D, and field operations for drone-enabled powerline construction.

This hands-on role focuses on designing, modifying, and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and ground-based systems, with travel to field sites as needed.

You will help translate lab concepts into field-ready equipment, improve safety and productivity, and partner with diverse teams to deliver reliable infrastructure solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience or strong interest in mechanical/hydraulic systems and robotics.
• Ability to read and modify technical drawings.
• Excellent cross-functional communication.
• Willingness to travel and work on field sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve robotic products and field systems used in aerial stringing.
• Design, modify, and maintain mechanical and hydraulic systems for drone-enabled construction.
• Create maintenance protocols and improvement plans for stringing equipment.
• Design rope management systems integrating technology with traditional methods.
• Oversee steel fabrication projects and hardware quality checks.
• Use CAD and technical docs to communicate design solutions.
• Collaborate with field teams to ensure safety, durability, and productivity.
• Troubleshoot field issues and identify root causes in real time.
• Support safety and quality standards in equipment and modifications.
• Communicate with engineering, operations, safety, suppliers, and customers.
• Travel to support field operations and deployments.
• Assist with startup needs as assigned.
