Job summary

The Middlesex Corporation in Norwalk, CT, is seeking a Surveyor to lead field layout and as-builts on assigned projects, with exposure to GPS, Trimble software, and various surveying instruments. The role requires comfort with long walks in varied weather and carrying equipment up to 40 pounds.

You will collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to establish survey control, perform necessary calculations, and transfer data between field and office.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of construction-related experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of survey grade GPS and SCS900 software as well as other survey equipment.
• Basic CAD skills; i.e. Business Center, Carlson, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Open Roads.

Responsibilities

• Operate GPS, SCS900, Total Station, and Level survey equipment.
• Perform site setup activities; calibration, level runs, control checks.
• Perform all layout calculations in data collector; Station/Offset, Distances, Grading.
• Keep detailed field notes.
• Work independently on field layout.
• Transfer files between field and office.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents on layout requirements and survey control.
• Utilize Trimble survey equipment and software including GPS, Robotic Total Stations, and machine control.
• Software used includes SCS900, Trimble Access, and Trimble Business Center.
