Job summary

Southeastern Surveying and Mapping Corp. is seeking a Survey Rod Person to assist with field surveying activities in Jacksonville, FL. You will help maintain survey equipment, assist Crew Chief, and perform measurements and data collection while adhering to safety protocols.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift some weight, and willingness to travel to job sites. Experience with survey instruments is a plus; overtime and remote field work may be needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to obtain badges and certifications necessary to enter sites (e.g., MOT, Duke Energy, CSX, DOD).
Ability to stand/walk long periods and work in inclement weather.
Occasional travel and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

Assist with field surveying tasks and maintenance of survey equipment.
Load/unload survey gear for daily tasks and ensure necessary materials are available.
Set up backsights/foresights and accurately measure using tape and level.
Obtain property corners, search as needed, and drive stakes with appropriate tools.
Maintain safety procedures and wear PPE; operate survey instruments in field environments.
May perform light office duties and travel to remote field locations as required.
