Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking personnel to support field crews in data gathering for boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys across assignments. You will operate survey instruments, assist in field surveys under supervision, and maintain neat field notes while traveling to project locations as needed.

Required are a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of industry experience, knowledge of surveying practices, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One year industry experience
• Minimum knowledge of land surveying practices and performance of basic types of surveys, mathematical computations, and field operations
• Able to work outdoors year-round in all types of weather conditions and environments
• Available to travel/stay out of town for work as needed
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company MVR standards

Responsibilities

• Support field crew in data gathering for boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys.
• Assist in completion of field surveys under the supervision of a Crew Chief; communicate progress and address problems.
• Operate land survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems, terrestrial 3D laser scanners, automatic and digital levels.
• Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations.
• Read and interpret various types of maps and plans.
• Complete neat and orderly field notes with accurate measurements for land survey operations with supervision from Crew Chief.
• Load and unload trucks with land survey equipment and supplies.
• Clean and maintain land survey equipment, tools, and vehicle.
• Follow company safety procedures, policies, and practices.
• Ability to travel out of state to project locations (Full Per Diem included)
