Job summary

SAM, a nationwide geospatial leader, seeks a field surveying assistant to support crews with boundary, topographic, and construction layout work. You will operate survey gear, collect data, and maintain field notes under the Crew Chief’s supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and willingness to travel and work outdoors in all weather. A year of industry experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet MVR standards.
• One year industry experience.
• Basic knowledge of land surveying and math computations.
• Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather.
• Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Support field crew using land survey instruments for boundary, topo, and construction layout.
• Assist in completing field surveys under supervision; report progress.
• Operate survey equipment including robotic total stations and GNSS receivers.
• Collect geospatial data and perform survey computations via software.
• Read and interpret maps and plans accurately.
• Maintain neat field notes with precise measurements.
• Load/unload gear and maintain equipment and vehicles.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies.
