Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a field-oriented survey assistant to support boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. You will work with field crews using advanced survey instruments and data collection methods to ensure accurate geospatial results.

The role requires one year of industry experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel. Outdoor labor in all weather conditions is expected, with comprehensive safety procedures in place.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year industry experience preferred.
  • Minimum knowledge of land surveying practices and performance of basic types of surveys, mathematical computations, and field operations.
  • Able to work outdoors year-round in all types of weather conditions and environments.
  • Available to travel/stay out of town for work as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company MVR standards.

Responsibilities

  • Use a variety of land survey instruments to support field crews for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
  • Assist in completing field surveys under supervision, communicating progress, and addressing issues.
  • Operate land survey equipment including robotic total stations and GNSS receivers.
  • Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform computations.
  • Read and interpret maps and plans.
  • Maintain neat and accurate field notes with measurements.
