Job summary

City of Kent is seeking a Land Survey Technician to perform field and office surveying duties, including data collection, calculations, and map preparation for city projects. You will work under the City Land Surveyor, operate GNSS, total stations, drones, and data collectors, and support design layouts for streets, utilities, and facilities.

The role requires a two-year degree in Surveying Technology or related field and at least two years of surveying experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited two-year college in Surveying Technology or related field.
• Knowledge of surveying, drafting, engineering design, and construction.
• Familiarity with AutoDesk and ESRI software desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate surveying field equipment (Data Collectors, total stations, GNSS, drones).
• Record survey notes accurately per procedures.
• Process data and identify errors; provide standard deliverables to customers.
• Perform engineering calculations for distances, angles, areas and elevations.
• Locate and set monuments; update Survey Monument Control network.
• Draft exhibit maps and work with CAD/GIS data.
