Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services in Raleigh seeks an entry‑level Survey Technician to perform boundary, topographic, ALTA, as‑built, easement, and subdivision surveys for public and private clients.

You will operate GNSS receivers and robotic total stations to measure elevations, angles, and distances, and maintain instrument accuracy. Fieldwork, travel, and supporting the Survey Party Chief are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year of survey instrument operation.
• Valid NC Driver's license with good driving record.
• Practical knowledge of survey methods and procedures.
• Ability to utilize GPS, RTK, VRS, and robotic total station equipment.
• Ability to interpret maps.
• Detail oriented with good communication skills.
• Physically able to walk rough terrain, stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform field work in various weather conditions.
• Occasional regional travel (approximately 20%) including some overnight stays

Responsibilities

• Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA, as-builts, easements, and subdivision surveys for public and private clients.
• Operate and maintain various surveying instruments such as GNSS receivers and robotic total stations to measure elevations, angles, and distances.
• Clean, check and adjust survey instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy of measurements.
• Maintain a high standard of accuracy and productivity in all survey work.
• Oversee surveying activities in the absence of the Survey Party Chief.
