Job summary

SUMMIT DESIGN AND ENGINEERING SERVICES, INC. seeks a survey technician to perform boundary, topographic, ALTA, and subdivision surveys for public and private clients. You will operate GNSS receivers and robotic total stations, ensuring precise elevations, angles, and distances in varying conditions.

You will maintain instruments, support field crews, and potentially oversee activities when the Survey Party Chief is absent, with travel up to 20% regionally as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year of survey instrument operation.
• Valid NC Driver's license with good driving record.
• Practical knowledge of survey methods and procedures.
• Ability to use GPS, RTK, VRS, and robotic total station equipment.
• Detail oriented with strong communication skills.
• Physically able to walk rough terrain, stand long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA, as-builts, easements, and subdivision surveys for clients.
• Operate and maintain GNSS receivers and robotic total stations to measure elevations, angles, and distances.
• Clean, check and adjust survey instruments to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain high accuracy and productivity in survey work.
• Oversee surveying activities in the absence of the Survey Party Chief.
• Occasional regional travel (approximately 20%) including some overnight stays.
