Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Survey Technician I in Hunt Valley, MD to operate surveying instruments in the field, collect measurements, and support boundary and topographic surveys under a licensed surveyor. This on-site role requires travel to various field locations and weather-ready endurance.

You will set up total stations and GPS/GNSS equipment, establish control points, read plans and drawings, and document data with precision. A high school diploma and a valid U.S.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
• US citizenship is required.
• Frequent travel to field locations is required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, levels, and data collectors.
• Establish and verify survey control points and benchmarks.
• Take measurements of angles, distances, elevations, and coordinates.
• Assist with boundary, topographic, ALTA, and as-built surveys.
• Read and interpret survey drawings, plans, maps, and field notes.
• Record field measurements accurately using electronic data collectors and surveying software.
• Locate property corners, monuments, utilities, and other features.
• Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments and equipment.
• Perform calculations and check field data for accuracy.
• Assist the survey crew chief and surveyor with daily field operations.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work area.
• Occasionally work in difficult terrain, construction sites, and varying weather conditions.
