Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Survey Assistant in Plano, TX to support surveying and mapping activities under the guidance of a Senior Surveyor. You will collect land data, assist with data transfer, and help operate survey instruments in a dynamic team environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on surveying tasks, safe equipment handling, and collaboration with field crews to deliver accurate spatial data and maintain project readiness.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of surveying.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a team.
• Ability to execute surveying tasks accurately, safely, and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Use basic knowledge of the general concepts of field survey work.
• Collect data on land shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions.
• Assist in transferring survey data to proper files in the network.
• Operate and maintain survey instruments and measuring devices including levels, robotic total stations, GPS equipment and data collectors.
• Assist in laying out stakes, clearing line of survey, and handling surveying equipment safely.
• Maintain equipment and survey vehicle; ensure cleanliness and organization.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature as assigned.
