Job summary

SAM Construction Group is hiring a Field Survey Technician to translate engineering blueprints and digital models into precise on-site reference points. You will establish control lines, set out footings and foundations, and verify embeds before concrete pours.

Responsibilities include reading CAD/BIM drawings, coordinating with carpenters and trades, and performing as-built surveys to ensure alignment with engineering tolerances.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of surveying concepts and coordinate point extraction from plans and BIM/CAD drawings.
• Able to read blueprints and interpret architectural, civil, and structural drawings for field layout.
• Familiar with measurement tolerances and the use of field data collection tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up and verify project control lines, benchmarks, and elevations on site.
• Use optical and Trimble GPS tools to locate and stake points for footings and foundations.
• Mark and verify anchor bolts, weld plates, and embed positions before concrete pours.
• Read CAD/BIM drawings to extract coordinates and identify constructability issues.
• Perform post-pour surveys to generate as-built data and verify tolerances.
• Communicate layout marks and tolerances to trades and field crews.
