Job summary

R. Joe Harris & Associates, Inc. is seeking a skilled Survey Crew Chief to lead field crews on boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys.

You’ll plan activities, select methods, operate total stations and GPS, and ensure accurate data collection. You’ll mentor junior crew members, coordinate with project managers and engineers, uphold safety standards, and stay current with industry trends and regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience as a survey crew chief or instrument operator.
• Proficiency with total stations, GPS, and surveying instruments.
• Experience with Trimble Business Center or similar software.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage survey crews in the field to complete boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys.
• Plan and organize survey activities, determining the best methods, procedures, and equipment for each project.
• Operate and oversee the use of total stations, GPS, and other instruments.
• Collect accurate field data and ensure proper documentation for project deliverables.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, clients, and team members to meet project requirements.
• Maintain safety standards and compliance on all job sites.
• Keep thorough field notes, records, and project documentation.
• Mentor and train junior crew members, supporting their professional growth.
• Stay current on new technologies, industry trends, and regulations.
