Job summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking a Survey Instrument Technician to support the Surveyor Party Chief by collecting survey data with designated equipment. The role requires travel to project sites and staying overnight as needed.

Qualified candidates will have 5 years of surveying experience, knowledge of GPS software using Topcon Hyperlite, a valid driver’s license, and a TWIC card. A high school diploma or equivalent is required and reading and interpreting measurements is essential.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years verifiable experience in surveying commercial and/or heavy industrial construction stakeout.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Must have a TWIC card.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Be able to read and comprehend measurements.
• Intermediate math skills including trigonometry and coordinate geometry.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with others.

Responsibilities

• Operate total station, digital and automatic level, Topcon data collector, TDS software.
• Collect data for field level notes for the Surveyor Party Chief.
• Assist in loading and unloading survey equipment from the company vehicle.
• Travel and stay overnight based on workload.
• Attend safety meetings and follow safety policies.
