Job summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking a Survey Instrument Technician for a full-time position. The role supports the Surveyor Party Chief, collecting survey data with designated equipment and traveling as needed to support projects.

Strong math, reading measurements, and communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will have five years of verifiable surveying experience in commercial/heavy industrial settings, a valid driver's license, and a TWIC card, with willingness to travel and work

Qualifications

Five years verifiable experience in surveying commercial or heavy industrial construction stakeout.
Must have a valid Driver's License and a TWIC card.
Ability to travel and stay overnight as workload requires.
Must be able to read and comprehend measurements and perform intermediate math.
Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

Operates total station, digital and automatic level, Topcon data collector, and TDS software.
Collects data for field level notes and reports to the Surveyor Party Chief.
Assists in loading and unloading survey equipment from the company vehicle.
Travels as needed to support project requirements.
Adheres to Health, Safety & Environmental policies and participates in safety meetings.
