Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to join our Norfolk, VA survey crew. You will support field surveys, operate surveying gear, and ensure data is collected accurately and safely.

Join our Survey/Geospatial team to access a range of data collection services and contribute to precise data interpretation. A valid driver’s license and travel readiness may be required; pre-employment drug screening applies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of surveying experience.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.
• Ability to operate surveying equipment safely.
• Basic math, geometry and trigonometry knowledge.
• Strong teamwork and communication.
• English reading/writing proficiency.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Assist Crew Chief in field surveys.
• Operate standard surveying equipment using established methods.
• Use Total Stations, Data Collector, GPS to collect data.
• Upload/download field data.
• May drive the Survey vehicle.
• Set up instruments and prepare job sites.
• Follow safety policies and SOPs.
• Maintain and stock survey equipment and truck.
