Job summary

Woolpert seeks a Survey Instrument Operator in Virginia to perform advanced land surveying under the Survey Crew Chief. You will operate total stations, GNSS, and data collectors, set up equipment, and ensure data quality. The role requires fieldwork, independent work, and teamwork across projects with significant travel.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with OSHA cert and 4+ years of surveying experience. A valid driver’s license and ability to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, OSHA certification preferred.
• 4+ years of land surveying experience or related field.
• Must be able to travel frequently and extensively, including overnight travel.
• Proficient with survey instruments and data collection.
• Own transportation and valid driver’s license; pass MVR/background checks.

Responsibilities

• Follow Survey Crew Chief instructions and standard procedures.
• Operate and maintain total stations, GNSS units, levels and data collectors.
• Set up and break down survey equipment at job sites.
• Collect, verify and document field data and notes.
• Assist with data transfer and preliminary data processing.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate with team to meet schedules.
