Job summary

TKC Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Field Support Technician to travel within assigned regions to service proprietary equipment at customer locations. You will diagnose and repair kiosks, PCs, vending machines, and networking gear, coordinating with the Service Desk for incidents and maintenance.

The role requires strong communication, problem solving, and travel readiness. You will operate company vehicles, document work orders, and participate in hands-on training as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or 6 months to 1 year related experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials.
  • Ability to write reports and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to apply basic math and analytics to problems.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites within the service area to repair equipment.
  • Diagnose, test, repair, and replace kiosks, PCs, vending machines, and networking gear at correctional facilities.
  • Coordinate with Service Desk for incident escalation and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain and update Work Orders with travel time and work performed.

About This Position

The primary responsibility of the Field Support Technician (FST) is to travel and repair proprietary equipment located at customer locations in their service area when dispatched by our customer facing Service Desk. Customers will first contact the Service Desk who will work incidents created for customer related issues, and when needed dispatch and remotely support the FST on equipment repair. Equipment includes networking components, kiosks in use by the public, staff and inmates, and vending machines (mechanical and IT related work). Some parts will be stored at a local warehouse or in vehicle as we are able, to allow for quick repairs when able. If needed, the Service Desk will configure/ship equipment from corporate for the FST to receive and use for installation or repair of equipment.

Essential Functions, Duties, And Responsibilities
  • Excellent communication with customers and while working with the Service Desk, regional staff, and peers.
  • Diagnose, test, repair and replace kiosks, pc’s, vending machines, networking equipment, and other IT equipment located within Jails and Prisons.
  • Work with Service Desk team on preventative maintenance and walk throughs.
  • Use provided company car to travel to customer locations within service area.
  • Update Work Order (WO) module with travel time, notes on work performed and WO resolution.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment and components and our product offerings evolve.
  • Travel into Saint Louis as needed for hands on training with equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have T-1 and analog circuit repair knowledge.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of multiple network disciplines and perform advanced network diagnostics to isolate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Must be able to develop good working relationships with facility personnel.
  • Service and maintain inmate phone systems at correctional facilities within an assigned region.
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned territory as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong team oriented business skill.
  • Professional attitude in dealing with customers.
