Job summary

First Student is the largest school transportation provider in North America, delivering safe, reliable service to 1,250 districts across 39 states and 8 Canadian provinces. We are hiring a Field Supervisor to oversee daily transportation operations, monitor driver performance, ensure safety compliance, and investigate incidents.

You will work closely with drivers, school staff, customers, and location leadership, applying strong communication, judgment, and leadership to maintain on-time

Qualifications

• CDL with Passenger endorsement required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of supervisory experience with hourly employees preferred.
• Computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanical processes and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor driver pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report equipment issues.
• Conduct driver road checks, including on-time performance, safe driving, bus stops, speeding, and railroad crossings.
• Observe drivers for work readiness, including uniform, safety vest, and appearance standards.
• Conduct safety contacts with drivers and correct safety violations as needed.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, including gathering facts and taking photos.
• Attend client or parent meetings related to driver performance and recommend corrective actions.
• Complete compliance activities, including MVRs, background checks, reports, route signs, GAP applications, and system updates.
• Supervise daily loading and unloading at schools.
• Support special events, including parking and loading/unloading coordination.
• Dispatch as needed and monitor on-time performance.
• Assist management with driver interviews.
