Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a SUE Technician based in our Charlotte, NC office to assist in subsurface utility engineering and related fieldwork.

The role involves reading utility records and plans, designation of utilities using EM and geophysical tools, operating a vacuum excavation truck, and supporting traffic control and safety on site. Candidates should be able to work outdoors, travel occasionally, and lift up to 80 lbs.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience with electromagnetic and geophysical designating technologies.
• Ability to quickly grasp new technologies.
• Strong reading comprehension and communication skills.
• Outdoor work in varied weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and work overtime.
• Ability to walk long distances daily.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Commitment to safety of yourself and others.
• Proficient reading/writing English for job communications.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret utility records, as-built and survey drawings and highway design plans.
• Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
• Operate a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes.
• Apply appropriate maintenance of traffic.
• Collaborate with a team on a variety of projects.
