Job summary

Pike Electric, LLC is seeking an entry-level Substation Equipment Operator to assist in construction, maintenance and repair of electric substation systems. This non-exempt position involves travel to Florida and other states and working with heavy equipment.

Responsibilities include safe work, transporting and installing substation structures, reading blueprints, and maintaining company vehicles. Heavy equipment experience includes bucket trucks, backhoes, and forklifts; willingness to work

Qualifications

  • Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
  • Able to read and understand simple blueprints, maps, and diagrams.
  • Able to identify energized high and low voltage lines.
  • Basic knowledge in electricity.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards near energized equipment.
  • Must supply own safety boots.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs+.
  • Capable of following directions.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely while performing construction, maintenance and/or repair work of electric substation systems.
  • Assist in transporting, installation, and/or removal of substation structures, equipment, and hardware, electrical conductors, wire, and cable.
  • Capable of operating various types of heavy equipment (bucket, derrick and boom trucks; backhoes, excavators, skid steers; articulating man-lifts; pressure diggers; trenchers; track crawler loader/backhoe; rough terrain telescopic forklifts).
  • Read and interpret profiles, blueprints, maps, or other written instructions for tasks.
  • Maintain company vehicles in good working condition.
  • Capable of receiving and following directions; willing to work overtime or long hours during emergencies.
