Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Certified Structural Steel welding (AWS CWI) and Coatings (AMPP / NACE / SSPC Level II) Inspector to join a field-based team across New Mexico, Utah, or Arizona. The role involves travel to US locations and some Canada assignments in a long-term contract capacity.

The ideal candidate has exposure to structural steel and bridge inspections, AWS D1.1 and D1.5 familiarity, and must pass a physical and background check. Immediate start is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum 9 years of relevant post-education experience in the discipline with prior construction inspection experience.
• NACE/AMPP or SSPC Coatings Certification Level II.
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification.
• Must be willing to travel, including overnight stays when out of town.

Responsibilities

• QA role in structural steel fabrication and coating inspections, both shop and field.
• Perform dimensional checks, welding inspection, NDT, coatings, and review material test reports.
• Monitor surface preparation, cleanliness, environmental conditions, paint kit mixing, and coating applications per contract documents.
• Communicate with owners, fabricators, engineers, NDT technicians, and coating professionals.
• Prepare daily shop/field reports in digital format.
• Participate in safety meetings.
