Job summary

Actalent in Rock Hill, SC seeks a Special Inspector to perform structural inspections and construction materials testing across multiple projects. The role combines field inspections, laboratory testing, and detailed reporting, with daily collaboration with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has ICC certifications (Reinforced Concrete or Structural Masonry) and solid experience in CMT, reporting, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• ICC Reinforced Concrete and/or ICC Structural Masonry certification (at least one).
• Experience in construction materials testing (CMT) and inspections.
• Ability to read plans, specifications, and safety rules.
• Strong attention to detail with clear field and lab reports.
• Willingness to travel to project sites daily in a take-home vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural inspections for rebar, masonry, post-tensioning systems and foundations.
• Conduct field testing of soil, concrete, and asphalt with proper procedures.
• Prepare detailed field reports documenting test results and observations.
• Perform laboratory tests on soil and concrete and report results.
• Evaluate site conditions and provide recommendations based on data.
• Communicate test results and action items with clients and teams.
• Adhere to safety rules and operating procedures in field and lab work.
• Read plans and manuals to support accurate inspections and testing.
• Travel to project sites using company vehicle; maintain professional conduct.
• Maintain organized records supporting QA documentation.
