Job summary

Sonoma Land Trust is seeking a Stewardship Technician II to perform field-based stewardship across SLT preserves, focusing on infrastructure maintenance, wildfire readiness, and natural resource management.

You will lead contractors and volunteers, document field conditions, and coordinate with partners while working in a hybrid model that includes significant field time in Santa Rosa, CA.

Qualifications

• Relevant work experience, coursework, and training in conservation land management, agricultural land management, project management, natural resource management, or a related field.
• Familiarity with infrastructure assessment, maintenance, and repair, including buildings, ranch roads, fencing, and water systems.
• Experience assessing property infrastructure, wildfire readiness, defensible space, and vegetation management.
• Experience implementing natural resource and wildlife habitat management activities.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including documenting field conditions and coordinating with partners.
• Experience using common hand tools, power tools, UTVs, and trailers, including trailer towing and backing.
• Ability to work occasional weekends or after business hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of SLT preserve management plans, including infrastructure maintenance, wildfire readiness, and resource protection.
• Lead and direct contractors, consultants, and volunteers.
• Inspect preserves and properties to assess conditions and maintenance needs.
• Conduct facilities maintenance such as building repair and debris removal.
• Assist with Fire program activities and prescribed burns.
• Implement wildfire protection plans across preserves.
• Lead Stewardship volunteer workdays and coordinate with Community Engagement.
• Manage resource monitoring data and reporting.
