Job description

Total Number of Openings 1 Operates and monitors oil, water and gas production and distribution facilities, typically Upstream facilities from wells to primary separation and processing, and Midstream distribution/storage facilities (pipelines/terminals). Monitors process variables, troubleshoots, and performs interventions to maintain operating performance. Performs work of medium complexity and may assist on projects. Receives close supervision only on non-routine and critical aspects of work. General knowledge of Chevron policies and processes. Chevron Shale & Tight Business Unit is accepting online applications for the position of Field Specialist, located at Keene, ND. through September 23rd, 2026, 11:59 p.m. (Central Standard Time). The Field Specialist is responsible for monitoring equipment performance data to optimize wells and facilities, maximizing free cash flow while ensuring safe and compliant operations. This role requires adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and a commitment to safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities
  • Engage in safe work practices, start work checks, including reviewing permits and walkthroughs.
  • Immediate reporting and documentation of incidents and spills according to company policies.
  • Maintain and properly use PPE.
  • Collaborate with team leaders at the start of the shift and before leaving the field.
  • Complete effective handoff communications between back-to-backs and also with IOC/night operations.
  • Perform equipment surveillance and provide first-level response.
  • Operate equipment and manage process controls and flow (start-up, shut down).
  • Safely complete and accurately capture work activities using digital tools and software (EBS, autonomous maintenance, operator planning optimizer, SAP (corrective/preventive/predictive maintenance)).
  • Ensure accuracy of production and injection reporting via Production recording software (ODR).
  • Maintain regulatory requirements (BLM, flaring, VOC emissions, audits, flare downtime, blowdown documentation).
  • Participate in risk assessments, PHA, MOC reviews, and spill documentation.
  • Partner with IOC to execute prioritized work tasks.
  • Drive well optimization: maximize performance, reduce downtime, and provide feedback on gas injection rates.
  • Support facility optimization: maximize throughput, minimize shutdowns, reduce unplanned LPO, and optimize compression.
  • Support verification and execution of equipment maintenance and repairs (SPCC, LDAR, routine, and frontline maintenance).
  • Follow fluid management best practices: minimize fluid inventory, dual gauge tanks, drain tank bottoms, verify levels, and confirm automation accuracy.
  • Develop technical skills and “We Lead” behaviors in field staff.
  • Apply Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles to foster learning and communication.
  • Actively participate in training, coaching, and mentoring initiatives.
  • Actively participate in response meetings and support cross-area resource allocation during events.
  • Identify OPEX saving opportunities.
  • Complete other duties assigned by the Operations Supervisor.

Field Time (“go see”, meetings/collaboration) – 95% Desk Time (admin, invoices, data analysis, emails) – 5%

Required Qualifications
