Position Overview

A leading OEM of highly automated sawing and fabrication machinery is seeking a Field Service / Support Engineer to join its technical service team. This primarily remote, in-house position is based out of the Morgantown, PA area and is ideal for someone with a strong troubleshooting background in industrial automation who enjoys supporting customers and solving technical challenges from a central location.

This role focuses on remote technical support, including responding to service calls and tickets, diagnosing equipment issues, connecting to customer systems remotely, and coordinating service and parts requirements. Occasional travel for onsite support or training may be required, but this is not a field-heavy travel position.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a first line of remote support for customers via phone, email, and remote connection tools
• Diagnose issues related to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems
• Remotely access machines (via VPN or related tools) to perform diagnostics and assist with repairs
• Identify and recommend parts needed for service or replacements
• Maintain service tickets and records in a structured support system
• Collaborate with internal engineering and field service teams for escalations and solutions
• Assist in developing troubleshooting documentation, FAQs, and knowledgebase content
• Support occasional on-site visits for complex installations or high-priority service cases

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field
• 3–5 years of experience in technical support, field service, or controls/electrical troubleshooting roles
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems (up to 480V), PLCs, and motor controls
• Familiarity with industrial automation equipment, HMI navigation, and remote access tools
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable working independently and managing multiple service tickets
• Able to commute to Morgantown, PA daily
• Occasional overnight travel (less than 25%) may be required for training or escalated cases

• PLC software navigation (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley)
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), servo systems, and HMIs
• Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
• Multimeters, diagnostic tools, and remote desktop software
• Microsoft Office, Jira, Salesforce, or similar ticketing platforms
