Job summary

NES Fircroft is partnering with a global power technology business to establish a brand-new Data Center field service operation in Northern Indiana. As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll drive startup, commissioning and handover of electrical and control systems on major projects.

You’ll collaborate with contractors and customers to perform installation verification, pre-energization checks, system energization, PLC/HMI configuration, field wiring and troubleshooting, producing commissioning

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on field service, commissioning or startup experience.
• Experience with switchgear / electrical distribution, PLC & HMI, VFDs or UPS is a plus.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Receiving inspections and installation verification.

Job description

I’m partnering with a global power technology business that is establishing a brand-new operation in Northern Indiana to support its growing Data Center business across the US.

This is an opportunity to join at the very beginning of a new team and office, working directly with mission-critical electrical equipment through installation, startup, commissioning and ongoing field service.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll be responsible for getting electrical and control systems from delivery through successful startup and handover.

You’ll work closely with General Contractors, commissioning teams and customers across major Data Center projects, with responsibilities including:

• Receiving inspections and installation verification
• Pre-energization and pre-power-up checks
• Equipment energization and system startup
• PLC/HMI configuration and functional verification
• Field wiring and communication checks
• Troubleshooting electrical and control system issues
• Root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Supporting pre-commissioning, functional testing and IST activities
• Producing commissioning and service documentation
• Providing technical support through final handover and post-commissioning service

What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you’ll bring 3+ years of hands‑on field service, commissioning or startup experience with industrial electrical equipment or control systems.

Relevant experience could include:

• Switchgear / electrical distribution
• PLC & HMI systems
• VFDs
• UPS / critical power equipment

You should be comfortable reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings, working independently on active construction sites and troubleshooting equipment in the field.
