Job summary

NES Fircroft partners with a global power technology business to build a brand-new Field Service operation in Northern Indiana supporting major data center projects across the US.

You will join as a foundational hire to shape the operation, overseeing field activities from equipment delivery through installation, startup, commissioning, and ongoing service support while remaining technically hands-on.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in Field Service, commissioning or electrical startup.
• Experience leading technicians or engineers in the field.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Lead startup and commissioning activities for field installations.
• Oversee receiving inspections and installation verification.
• Coordinate pre-energization inspections and energization of equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Mentor and develop junior field staff; assign work to engineers/technicians.
• Coordinate with contractors and commissioning teams; monitor schedules and field execution.

Job description

I’m partnering with a global power technology business that is building a brand-new Field Service operation in Northern Indiana to support major Data Center projects across the US.

We’re looking for a Field Service Supervisor who can combine strong hands-on electrical and commissioning experience with the ability to lead engineers, technicians and day-to-day field operations.

This is a particularly exciting opportunity because you’ll be joining as one of the foundational hires into a new office and team, with significant scope to help shape how the operation grows.

The Role

You’ll oversee field activities from equipment delivery through installation, startup, commissioning, handover and ongoing service support whilst remaining technically involved in the work.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading equipment startup and commissioning activities
• Overseeing receiving inspections and installation verification
• Managing pre-energization inspections and equipment energization
• Troubleshooting electrical and control system issues
• Performing root cause analysis and coordinating corrective actions
• Supporting functional testing and Integrated System Testing (IST)
• Acting as the first technical escalation point for the field team
• Assigning work and overseeing Field Service Engineers and Technicians
• Mentoring and developing junior members of the team
• Coordinating daily site activities with General Contractors and commissioning teams
• Monitoring project schedules, manpower and field execution
• Managing tools, equipment, inventory and local field resources
• Supporting shipping, receiving and material staging from the Northern Indiana office
• Reporting project progress and operational requirements to senior management

What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you’ll bring 6+ years of Field Service, commissioning or electrical startup experience, together with experience leading technicians or engineers in the field.

• We’re particularly interested in backgrounds involving:
• Electrical power distribution
• Switchgear / critical power equipment
• Electrical startup & commissioning
• Troubleshooting energized electrical systems

You should be comfortable independently leading system startup, interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, coordinating multiple site activities and making technical decisions in the field.
